    I went to Sonning Eye on Saturday, and didn't see the Smew.

    At this site it is usually best to check a number of locations since reported birds move around a bit. Today late afternoon the drake Smew was on the second pit NE of the access road from A4155. It is also worth checking the pit on the other side of that road.

      I hadn't been to Sonning Eye before. I think I covered all the gravel pits. I went as far as the sailing club. I missed out on the smew at Henley rd too.
      Maybe I will see it next time. Thanks for replying.
