40 Red-crested Pochard: This is an exact count, not an estimate. 33 were on pit 27 in a single group. An additional 7 were on the adjacent pit to the north-west. SP388022. 15:40.
Goosander: male. In southernmost corner of pit adjacent to pit 27, very close to shore, giving excellent views. SP385022. 15:50.

    So that's where they've gone!
    I hadn't seen a single R.C Pochard at their traditional wintering site
    at Dix Pit. Great record.
